NAPERVILLE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CONGRATULATES SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD WINNERS
Local Small Businesses Awarded for Excellence in Six Categories
The Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce awarded six businesses during the 16th annual Small Business of the Year (SBY) Awards. This year’s awards gala, sponsored and presented by BMO Harris Bank, took place Friday, May 10 from 6-10 p.m. at the Wyndham Lisle.
“The Chamber thanks and congratulates this year’s overall winner, Naperville Dental Specialists, and all of the category winners for their hard work, innovation and outstanding service,” said Mike Evans, president & CEO of the Naperville Chamber. “I also want to acknowledge that all of our nominees are great businesses in their own right, and congratulate them on all of their success.”
The SBY Awards are divided into six categories with one overall winner: Business-to-Business, Business-to-Consumer, Professional, Not-for-Profit, Retail and Excellence in Business. Members nominate one another for the awards. Once nominations are submitted, the winners are selected by a panel of previous winners.
The winners of this year’s SBY Awards are:
Business-to-Business: Paul Gregory Media
Business-to-Consumer: Players Indoor Sports
Professional: Naperville Dental Specialists and General Oral Health Care
Not-for-Profit: Giving DuPage
Retail: Le Chocolat du Bouchard
And the 2013 overall SBY winner is Naperville Dental Specialists and General Oral Health Care.
During the awards gala, a Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to a business or civic leader for their commitment to Naperville’s business community, excellence in business stewardship, contributions to the region’s quality of life, and leadership in support of economic progress.
The recipient of the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award is actually several individuals – the Anderson family, owners of Oswald’s Pharmacy, Anderson’s Bookshop and Two Doors East.
“For five generations the Anderson family and their businesses have been a Naperville institution. The current generation – Bill, Becky, Tres and Peter – demonstrate the strength of family-owned businesses and dedication to the community through volunteerism,” said Evans. “The care they have for their costumers is why they thrive in competitive industries.” The Chamber would like to thank all 29 of this year’s nominees, panel judges and attendees for a very successful 16th anniversary event.
